i'm really nervous about tomorrow night. these next few days are very important to me. so important, i'm not even paying attention to my monitor problem.

which isn't the monitor at all..but a driver problem. :( which has me thinking, should i A: do a windows update. B: roll back the driver. or C: reinstall the driver completely? 'cause i asked a computer help comm., and they have serious doubts it's the monitor. so, i know for a fact now that it's the driver. :( so...what should i do? i don't wanna mess anything up.

for you high tech guru's, my graphics card is a NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT. so..what do you think i should do? a, b, or c? i really don't wanna do c. :(

GOOD LUCK TO CINDERELLA MAN, NARNIA, HP:GOF, PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN, ETC. FOR TOMORROW NIGHT!! :D especially Paul Giamatti. i doubt Jake will win..it's either Paul or George Clooney for supporting. i would rather have it be Paul. but it's ok if it's George. but HIGH doubts it'll be Jake.

WOOOOOO!! gonna make some special Oscar icons tomorrow. :D

GoF DVD: 3 days. might not get it until friday, though :( depends on how much she has. *grunts* but, put it this way, AT LEAST I'M GETTING THE DANG THING!! :D :D :D

[mood| nervous as hell!!]
[music| man..that dishwasher is noisy!]

uninstall and reinstall the driver.

If that fails update the driver.

i'm not even sure...i think i found the driver..but i don't wanna mess it up...:(
Nicolamylittleprince0 on March 4th, 2006 06:34 pm (UTC)
first I would update the drive and then uninstall the driver or what you would do is roll back the drive to an point in time where you knew you didn't have the problem. Did you download something to cause this problem? If all else fails please let me know.

problem is, i'm not sure where to find the driver online. it's old :( i did a google search, but i'm confused.

it wasn't anything i downloaded. it happened when i clicked on a pic to view it in my "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" thing. :(
Nicolamylittleprince0 on March 5th, 2006 06:33 pm (UTC)
tell me what driver you are looking for and I will try to look around for it for you. Two eyes are better than none.

NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT
date: 4-7-04
driver version:
file version:

i hope that helps. not sure how much luck you'll have finding it..it's an old driver, i heard.
spats_bear on March 5th, 2006 12:42 pm (UTC)
What is your video card model? Tell me and I can get you a driver.
ιнεαяттσяσηтσ™blossombunny on March 5th, 2006 02:39 pm (UTC)
you mean find one to download? if you meant sending me one itself through the mail, i don't know how to install it. i wouldn't know what to do. i'm not tech savvy. i don't wanna mess anything up. and the problem isn't THAT huge..it's just annoying. :( ..and Kevin, my sisters ex-husband, usually helps with our computer problems. well, he's not much help. he can barely do crap!!..so..i'm not counting on him to do it. he would take this computer to his house and take his sweet ass time fixing it. my computer is still there! after months and months..just sitting there. URGH!!

my info on it is:
Name: NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT
date: 4-7-04 (that's funny, we rented the computer before then. and i don't remember Kevin reinstalling it. unless that's when we installed XP. this computer originally had WinME, i think)
driver version:
file version:

that's all it told me. -_-

i'm thinking about trying to roll back the drivers if a Windows Update don't help. i disabled that 'cause it was annoying when it prompted for restart. and you know how i hate restarting.
Nicolamylittleprince0 on March 5th, 2006 06:36 pm (UTC)
First of all Windows update is suppose to do that so it keeps your computer updated and protected against a lot of problems. I also would recommend turning that back on and restart your computer when it prompts you do to so. So are you looking for driver to download? If so please instant message me on aim at udswinger1981 asap if you are on line so i can help you with this problem you are facing. My major is computer science so its my sorta thing to help you out with.

i got the driver. BUT i encountered a problem:
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
the help file says this:
Designed for Microsoft Windows XP LogoHardware and software products displaying the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo have been tested for compatibility with Microsoft Windows operating systems through use of Microsoft-provided testing procedures. For the best performance, Microsoft recommends using hardware products that display the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo on the external packaging and on the device itself.

Software for hardware products with the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo has a digital signature from Microsoft, indicating that the product was tested for compatibility with Windows and has not been altered since testing. For the latest updates, including security fixes, service packs, new Help files, and device drivers, see Windows Update in Help and Support Center. You may also want to contact the hardware vendor directly and ask for a device driver that has met the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo requirements. For more information, visit the Microsoft Windows Logo Program (go to http://www.microsoft.com/ and search for "Windows logo program") on the Microsoft Web site.

Microsoft strongly recommends you only use device drivers with the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo. Installing device drivers that have not been digitally-signed by Microsoft may disable the system, allow viruses onto your computer, or otherwise impair the correct operation of your computer either immediately or in the future.

great..just great. :( what do i do now? it's not compatible it seems. it's a 20MB file..and i have a backup copy of it. so 40MB of my space is gone.

this computer had WinME back then, this is probably why. why the hell isn't this wanting to install? it makes no sense. :(

i don't think i can go ahead and install it, if i mess it up, i don't have enough memory to do a system restore. :(
Nicolamylittleprince0 on March 6th, 2006 12:01 pm (UTC)
ok what i would suggest is do you have a copy of windows xp? I would uninstall windows XP and go back to Windows ME. If all else fails you would need a new driver. If i lived new you I could install it free of charge. Most of the time when you do a OS upgrade (operating system) you can encounter problems such as the one you are facing. What you need to do is find away to free up some space that might elimate a lot of problems and also help your programs run more smoothly. Perhaps invest in another hard drive to install. Let me know if all works out.
ιнεαяттσяσηтσ™blossombunny on March 6th, 2006 01:58 pm (UTC)
these driver files are 20MB :( and i made the program make a backup copy. so i'm gonna uninstall all that. dang it!! I KNEW it wouldn't find a driver that would work. -_- it's just too old!

as far as a WinME CD..i don't have that. the rent-to-own didn't give us one when we got these computers. and i wouldn't wanna lose my stuff and go back to ME. :( and i have an XP disk, but that won't install AT ALL. i've tried many times. i don't know why O_O

as far as getting a new card and installing it. uh..i don't exactly have money or the computer knowledge to do that. that's an accident waiting to happen. and my nieces' dad is no help either, he'll just have this computer at his house for months, 'fixing' it..my computer is still there! i'm not even sure if that one is fixed or not!!

so, i'm fine with it. i can deal. i'm used to it now. it just annoys me. a friend of mine is willing to build me a computer, a very good one, when i get a job. so..i can manage.

hell, maybe it'll fix itself. i've had worse problems that just went away in time.

maybe something else happened..maybe it's not the display driver at all. :(
Nicolamylittleprince0 on March 7th, 2006 02:32 am (UTC)
The only other thing I can think that could have happen is a virus could have gotten on your computer. When you rent that computer did they give you any recovery cd's at all. They should have in case something like this were to happen. But of course there are a lot more drivers out there now and it would be a waste of money to put into your computer when you could get a better working one for half the money. They have very good cheap computers on Dell. If you need any more help please do not hesitate to reach me.
ιнεαяттσяσηтσ™blossombunny on March 7th, 2006 05:21 am (UTC)
not sure. maybe. i have a lot of spyware on it. and a few worms..but they do nothing.

we didn't get any recovery CD's from them. or anything at all! :( no software..nothing. tightwads!

i can't really buy anything..so i'm stuck.

i know something triggered it. when i clicked on a picture to view (in my win picture and fax viewer), it happened.

perhaps it's 'cause i keep the computer on all the time? but i don't leave the monitor on. i shut it off when i go to bed. hehehe.

i just have this feeling it's something else. something simple. something overlooked.
ιнεαяттσяσηтσ™blossombunny on March 7th, 2006 12:41 am (UTC)
do you think i should go ahead and do this one? 'cause spats says to do it, but you say not to. (to install i mean)..is this the same file that program found me? i don't know what to do now.
Nicolamylittleprince0 on March 7th, 2006 02:29 am (UTC)
Yes install that one

re: let me know if they work.

Please let me know if any of these downloads fixes the problem.
